The mason continues his work on the south base. He cuts pieces of cardboard into the shape he wants for each stone. He then selects a stone from the pile that is similar to the desired shape. He scribes the cardboard outline on the stone and with his hammer and chisel makes the final shape. This is slow but loving work and when finished, the base will be a thing of beauty.
